SUCCESS in the music industry requires hard work and sacrifice; two things Castlederg singer-songwriter, Rois Kelly has embraced in her goal to achieve her dreams.
Despite training as a secondary school teacher and having a very successful career is Glasgow, Rois has opted to focus fully on her music career. “I have come to the stage of my career when I needed to have a go at chasing my musical ambitions and follow my dreams in becoming an established singer songwriter," she states. So far, she performed at many high profile showcases, including the annual St Patrick's celebrations within Stormont,
where she was watched by an audience from across the politician establishment.
“It was an amazing experience,” Rois explains, “and it really confirmed to me that I was following the right path in my life and developing my passion for music.” Her variety in tempo appealed to the Sounds Like Summer judges, making entrance into the competition a certainty for her. With a mixture of powerful, beautiful ballads and faster tracks all complimented with excellent vocals, Rois's inspiration for her music is very simple. “It can be anything from a word, phrase or picture," she points out. "Very often it is through personal experience or the experience of others that inspire me to write music. I try to compose a variety of songs that will appeal to a wider audience. Music that inspires includes artists like the late great Christie Hennessy, U2, Eric Clapton and Eva Cassidy.” |
