Sounds Like Summer

One cannot let the manner in which Limavady
four-piece, The Dirty Words, introduce themselves
on their Bebo site pass by without taking
note. It may offer a great insight into what exactly
we're dealing with here: "Whilst trapped in this
alien state, we could not come to terms with the
existence that we had to face and thus we resorted
to inventing "the dirty words" to which our
lives would revolve around... just random observations,
twisted and contorted into something a
lot blacker, more cynical, more questionable and
a lot less complacent. We could not accept that
this can be it. We could not face the truth. So we
lied..."
I have no idea what that means either, but I'm
still intrigued either way. The exuberance of youth
seems to dominate every aspect of the band.
With an average age of just 19, the eccentricities
of their Bebo biog are to be welcomed. They
boast an fine vocalist in 21 year old Stevie Martin,
who has managed to forge a balance between a
soft and raw delivery over the band's arrangements.
They may well fancy their chances at
'Sounds Like Summer' following their recent win
at the 2008 Danny Boy Festival Battle of the
Bands. (www.bebo.com/thedirtywordsmusic). |
